((Set in the distant future))
When Harvey and Olivia decided they were ready to have children, they made it clear that they'd have a date night at least once every two weeks. Life was very good at taking those plans and laughing at them.
It had been about 6 months since their last date night. Sick children, misbehaving children, sick Olivia and misbehaving Two-Face had kept the couple fairly close to home.
Tonight would be fantastic, Olivia had declared. They were going out even if someone's arm fell off. Sure, they were already starting out a bit late, but that didn't mean it wouldn't be fun.
Olivia was sitting in the living room massaging her temples as Harvey gave William, Evelyn and the babysitter a stern talking to. He was more of a worry wart than she was. At least the coin had stayed out of sight...so far.

Harvey walked into the living room, carrying Olivia's coat. "Why do I always have to be bad cop when it comes to getting the kids to behave?" he asked, as he glanced in the mirror to straighten his tie.
He bent over the back of the sofa, and kissed the top of his wife's head. "Come on, love. Up. You'll fall asleep if you sit there much longer. The car's outside and the table's booked."

"You have to be the bad cop because you have the odd notion that 2 and 4 year olds can be reasoned with, Harvey." Olivia said, smiling. "You're such a loser."
She rose to her feet and linked her arm with his and stood on tip toe to kiss his cheek. "This will be fun."
She brought her other arm across herself to grip Harvey's hand as they walked down to the car. "Remember the last time we went out? Running into Joker definitely doesn't make a date night fun. He's such a spaz. Why do you have to be friends with him? Don't answer that, I get why. He's too damn endearing for his own good."

Harvey held out the ruffled dark blue coat as Olivia slipped her arms into the sleeves "Eve can be reasoned with just fine. She's going to be a hostage negotiator one day, I'm sure."
Harvey shrugged as they left the house and stepped down to the rumbling town car. Joker and I have a history. I've lost too many people over the years to give any more up voluntarily. Just between us, I'm not sure Two-Face ever really got over him, but I think he tries."
Harvey took Ollie's hand as they settled into the back of the sleek black car.
"Finally, some time for just us..."

Olivia smiled fondly up at him. "You're too good a person, Harv, but I love that about you. I'm just glad you were able to turn down his suggestion of babysitting. Liam and Joker would be a terrifying combination."
She frowned at the mention of Two-Face and Joker. "Poor dear. We should find him a nice hooker."
As they got situated in the car, she snuggled close to him, resting her head on his shoulder. "Thank goodness. I've needed this. You look smashing, by the way. Entirely too handsome for your own good, Mr. Dent."

Harvey grinned fiendishly. "I'm not sure who'd be more dangerous; Joker or William. He takes after his old man, that one."
He looked at her almost sadly. "Be kind, Ollie. If Two-Face had a heart, I'd say Joker practically broke it - though I'm not sure that he does."
after a moment, Harvey brightened and lifted Olivia's hand to his lips. "Anyway. No moping tonight. And thank you - I don't need to tell you that you're always beautiful but it's always a pleasure to say it, so I will." He leaned down and kissed her. "You're ravishing."
The car made its way into the city centre, the wet streets glowing in the lights overhead.

Olivia shuddered. "That is a terrifying thought. Joker's so much of a child himself, could you imagine him with a 2 year old? They'd both end up begging us for bedtime stories and treats. Terrible combination. Then Harley would probably try to hide the kids in her purse to take them home since J doesn't want kids...We need better friends, Harvey."
She squeezed his knee. "I'm sorry, babe. It's just been so long, you know? Plus, he could do better. Actually, he has done better. He has me! And, as he knows, I can be exciting too. Maybe not as exciting as our clowny friend, but...still fun!"
Olivia laced her fingers against the back of Harvey's neck as they kissed. Before too long the car rolled to a halt outside of the restaurant. Olivia grinned at Harvey as they exited the car and walked in.
She could always tell who was a Gotham native and who wasn't simply by their reactions to Harvey. Natives would stare for a few seconds, realize who they were staring at and then quickly avert their eyes. People new to the city would openly gape until someone (generally a waiter or fellow patron) would politely tell them that they were looking at Harvey Fucking Dent and should probably look elsewhere.
It was amusing.
About a year after Evelyn was born Olivia had gone out on her own to a bar for the first time. A young man had blatantly ignored the ring on her left hand and flirted shamelessly. When he started getting a bit too feely and forward with her, she'd politely informed him that she was Olivia Dent. His reaction had been epic. The youth had proceeded to stutter his apologies and buy her drink before scampering off.
Having power was something she was getting very used to.
Their table was tucked away in a private corner of the restaurant. Olivia smiled warmly at her husband. "Oh, this is fabulous, Harv."

"I'm wondering who would come off best in a battle of wills between them," Harvey mused. "I think it might actually be William. Of course I'd then have to put it around town that Joker lost an argument with a two year old, and he'd have me killed. So let's not leave them alone together, shall we?"
Harvey took Olivia's hand as they walked inside the cosy Spanish tapas bar. The Maitre d' jumped over with a bottle of champagne as soon as they were settled at their table.
As the waiter left the table, Harvey took his cell phone from his pocket and switched it to silent. "I'm determined not to phone home until at least 10," he said.
Harvey sat back and let his gaze flick across the other tables. Every diner soon became very interested in their menus. He spotted an intern from the DA's office, and grinned at him demonically until the young man dropped his gaze.
"Just playing, sweetheart," he said conspiratorially, squeezing his wife's hand across the table. "Got to keep them on their toes."

Olivia followed Harvey's gaze and laughed. "You are awful. That poor boy is probably going to have nightmares about you for the rest of his life."
She returned the squeeze. "I love it when you're bad, Mr. Dent. It's so fun."
She removed her hand from his and leaned back, looking around the restaurant. There was a couple a few tables over that had stupidly brought their young children. The baby was happily making a complete mess of the table and the older child was racing in circles.
Olivia smiled wryly. "I'm glad we have our date nights, by the way. Taking kids out to a nice restaurant is so stupid."
SHe locked eyes with him as she rested her elbows on the table and leaned her head on her hands. "Pick something fun to talk about."

"It's fun, Mrs Dent," he said proudly, "because I'm really good at it."
Harvey looked over to the table with the young family. The father looked harassed and the mother looked as though she hadn't slept in weeks. The young boy running around the table raced past them and caught sight of Harvey, stopping dead as he looked at the disfigured face. Harvey stared back impassively. The boy stared for a moment, lip trembling, before he ran back to his mother.
Harvey watched him go and toyed with with his wineglass.
"Well, I suppose that the last anyone will hear of him for the rest of the night. Good thing really."
He paused. "Evey's going to ask what happened before long. Why the other girls at nursery school can't look at her Daddy without wanting to throw up. It's not going to be a pleasant conversation, is it?"
Harvey paused as the waiter brought a platter of bread and fresh olives to the table. He tore off a piece of bread and dipped it in the dishes of oil and balsamic vinegar.
"Sorry, you wanted something fun. How about this - we laundered over 20 thousand last week via the casino. The new showgirls are really pulling people in, it's a great distraction for the IRS."
He furrowed his brow. "Crap, it's been so long since we went out that I've forgotten how to talk about anything except work. You pick a subject instead."

Olivia rolled her eyes. "You know, for a father of two little kids you are rotten with other people's children."
She took a sip of wine before responding. "Well, I think she'll take it in stride. She's a good kid, very smart. She's already so used to you two that I don't think the actual story will phase her much."
She dipped her bread in the oil and smiled indulgently as Harvey spoke. "You know, love, I'm accepting of your work and everything but I'm not sure that this is the best venue to discuss it. But first, why am I just hearing about this now? You know that I want to be kept in the loop as much as possible on the family business. I wish you'd give me more to do, by the way. I love being with the kids all the time but...I'd really love a job as well."
Olivia silently ate for a moment as she thought of something to talk about. "Um...Oh! Have you seen the family portrait Evey drew? I can't remember if I told you that her teacher called me in to ask why there were two daddies. It was very difficult for me not to laugh about it. We make excellent potato people, Harv."

Harvey accepted the comment gracefully. "True, but I'm great with our kids."
He smiled slightly. "Yeah, I know. I'm worrying over nothing. She'll be fine."
Harvey refilled Olivia's champagne glass "You'd think so, yes, but the truth is I could pull a gun in here and empty a clip into someone, and tomorrow morning not a single person would talk to the cops. That's the kind of power we have in this city, sweetheart."
He conidered "Ok. I'll see what I can do. You have been trapped in the house a lot. It's practically a prison senstence. Except that in prison they have rules about letting the inmates sleep through the night."
Harvey laughed. "I haven't - you'll have to show me when we get in. Did the teacher think you're living in some deliciously sinful menage a trois with not one but two mob bosses? Which to be accurate, you are."
He ate an olive. "How did she draw me and Two-Face? Interesting that she sees us as separate people, physically speaking. My therapist could spend hours and hundreds of dollars on that."

Olivia winced. "That's true, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't. I still don't really have the stomach for watching people get murdered in front of me."
She smiled gratefully. "Thanks, babe. Give me something fun to do like...Harassing Tally Man. He's so fun to annoy, and its so easy! Or maybe I could just come with you on jobs and be your muscle. People won't mess with you when I'm around."
She giggled uncontrollably. "Oh, she must have. I don't think she believed me when I said that he was just Evey's mad uncle who came round sometimes. Its accurate as well if you think about it."
She downed the refilled glass of champagne. "It is interesting. I can understand where she's coming from. You two are basically separate people. When Two-Face comes out your body language, voice and facial expressions change. I think she's done what I did a long time ago and begun thinking of you two as totally different people. It makes it easier to cope with daddy being snippy and grumpy when you aren't actually thinking of him as daddy anymore."

"Just a hypothetical situaiton, my love. I wasn't actually planning on shooting anyone."
He laughed quietly. "Tally Man likes you. At least I think he does. it's hard to tell. He always asks after you though. Remember when you came back from the gym in that t-shirt with pi on it and he couldn't stop staring at all the numbers, and it took us ages to figure out what it was about?"
Harvey raised his seyebrows "You already scare me, I think you'd be a terrifying bodyguard. I couldn't sack Romulus and Remus though. The twins are so good at hulking. Hulking is an important talent for a mob bodyguard. You're not really tall enough to hulk."
He thought. "It's true, we are. I'm told my accent changes as well as the actual tone of the voice - the Jersey comes out more. It's odd because I've never tried to downplay where I'm from. The first time I found a snitch wearing a wire it was a real surprise to hear the recording."
Harvey raised an eyebrow "Only you could describe a psychotic criminal mastermind as snippy."
He kissed Olivia's hand and turned to the menu. "What do you fancy? I think it has to be lobster for me. And some tapas too? The morcilla frita sounds good."

Olivia laughed. "Oh, yeah. T-Man is great. We should have him round for dinner. I think the kids would enjoy tormenting him. It's quite easy to do, you know. His brain would probably explode trying to keep up with their train of thought."
She fixed her expression into something that may have been considered fierce if it had been directed to a small, cute puppy. "I can hulk! Just get me some platform heels and I will be the hulkiest hulk you have ever employed, Mr. Dent. Better yet, stilts! I could beat people with them if they crossed you. You wouldn't even have to pay me in regular money. I'm sure we could arrange something more...fun." She waggled her eyebrows suggestively.
"It's a little alarming when your voice changes, but I'm used to it. Also, I have known this psychotic criminal mastermind for several years now, so I feel like I can describe him as fluffy and find some way for the description to fit."
She wrinkled her nose. "Oh, my life is a sad, sad one. I live with a man that has half a face and two personalities, and two wild children. Where did I go wrong, Harvey? What did I do to deserve such a horrible life with an incredibly loving husband, beautiful and intelligent children, more money than I need and the ability to say I'm married to the most powerful man in Gotham? It must have been awful..."
She squeezed his hand and smiled fondly over the menu at him. "That sounds fine. I think I'll have some empanadas. They sound rather delicious."
