"Nah, it's okay, call me whenever you like. Just not an hour too late." Ron smiled, his eyes lit up a little. Compared to the Katarina he met as Nightwing, he had to admit this version was a vast improvement. She seemed a lot more... real.
"Thank you," He replied simply, not really giving an answer to whether he did or didn't have a girlfriend. He didn't want to reveal too much of his personal life to a woman he'd just met- or rather met for the second time. He placed his pen back in his blouse pocket.
"Technically cigarettes are still a form of drug because they contain nicotine which as you've experienced is addictive and can cause diseases such as lung cancer. Coffee isn't a drug because it's not really used to cure or prevent an illness. Where as nicotine can be used in patches and gum to relieve people of their addiction to smoking." He babbled. Hearing Katarina elaborate into her ex-boyfriend caused a small frown to cross his features.
"Friendship is still a form of love. But I get it that sometimes that isn't enough," He looked down and began typing again, his eyelids hiding his expression. Again, he didn't want to reveal too much of his personal life.

"I'll make sure I'm courteous to you about the time I call. I don't want to wake you when you're sleeping or hard at work." Smiling at Ron.
Not getting a solid answer on the girlfriend question she could understand his right to exercise caution. I mean look at where they were at right now. Surrounded by Gotham's criminally insane.
"You can still suffer withdrawal from caffeine though. You can experience headaches and mood swings. Caffeine can boost your metabolism and actually help out in regularity" Catching onto the frown out of response to when she spoke about Christian. Yea, the guy was a creep.
"I want more than friendships though..before I got focused on being Peregrine I had goals in my life that I wanted to do. I wanted to be a mother, a wife and have my own company. I enjoyed tinkering with robotics as a little girl. All that went away when I came home from school finding my parents dead.." Bringing her knees up to her chest hugging them tightly for comfort. "Part of why I can't sleep much.. I still hear my mother's screams and I see my father's face as ZsasZ cut his throat out."

"True," he agreed to Katarina's reply on coffee, "But it can't exactly kill you, unlike cigarettes and alchohol... or maybe it can. I don't know," Ron shook his head with a small laugh.
He listened intently as she explained her story of how she came to be, he felt sorry for her since he could empathize, " A lot of people's parents have died but they deal with it, maybe in different ways. There's always a choice how to deal with it." He stopped, worried that he sounded insensitive, "I'm sorry about your parents, seeing them being murdered in front of your very own eyes is not really the good end to the day." .Or childhood for that matter.

Katarina nodded again growing a bit quiet. She wasn't so outgoing and bubbly like before. The topic kind of dragged her down. "At first I kind of buried the hurt with drugs and alcohol. That was my way of coping with it then I decided to take on an identity and try to find the killer. I wanted to confront him." Feeling her eyes become glossy with tears as she squeezed them shut trying not to cry in front of him.
She could feel herself slipping. The longer she stayed here the stronger Nightshade was becoming. Opening her eyes again which looked almost emotionless in appearance. Just staring blankly as she looked at Ron. "Who the hell are you?"

Ron retrieved a handkerchief from his pocket and gave it to Katarina, seeing her eyes glaze over, "I'm guessing by 'confront' you don't mean a civillised negotiation," he pushed the fake glasses up in line with his vision as they began slipping down.
"What do you mean by 'who the hell are you'?" He asked, finding it slightly amusing how he was acting more like a therapist then a writer asking questions for an article.

Taking the handkerchief wiping her eyes. "No, she doesn't mean in a civilized manner..then again I would be the one handling it." Lips curled into a darker smirk as her demeanor changed and her posture changed. Going from a sultry pose to a more firm pose.
"I mean, Katarina knows you but I don't.." Making it clear that he wasn't speaking to Kat anymore. Inching closer to him as she pulled on his tie to bring him near her. "I suppose I should introduce myself.. I'm Nightshade."

Ron's eyebrows furrowed as Katarina completely switched in personality. He took a deep breath and said, "Triple personality? I've met a fair amount with double-split..." He shuffled in his seat then quickly wrote down her transition from Katarina to Nightshade.
"If Katarina hasn't already enlightened you; I'm Ron. Ron Mael." He answered, not feeling much shock to her quick change- this is Arkham after all.

Nightshade smirked, "I'm not exactly a personality..Katarina's not mentally ill." She wouldn't go into detail of her existence that she was merely a chip embedded in Katarina's tattoo on her right shoulder. It was a personality that would act like a bodyguard which is what Katarina was originally intended to become.
"Hell she doesn't even know I exist. She thinks she is the one who has been attacking the guards and the doctors here.." Starting to laugh about it. "She couldn't harm a fly. Any conflict and she just rushes to the bottle whether for pills or liquor to drown it away.."
Letting out a huff as Katarina was fighting back letting her regain control again. Her eyes lightened up in appearance as she looked confused blinking. "Did I fall asleep? I'm sorry.." Apologizing to Ron.

"So Katarina's how she is because of you," Ron's reply was more of a statement than a question. It crossed him, yet again, how much he preferred the previous side to her than this one. He closed his laptop and began picking up his belongings to leave, loathing the current change of conversation.
Fortunately, he didn't need to. In a mere few seconds Katarina had turned back to her usual self. Looking up from his folded computer he noticed a slight change in her eyes, as crazy as it seemed, a small glint, "So you don't know her at all?" He asked. Was it possible she'd been unaware of Nightshade?

"Who are you talking about?" Katarina looked completely oblivious to the question. "Who is 'her'?" Lifting a brow. She clearly had no knowledge of Nightshade's existence because Nightshade wasn't in her mind. Nightshade existed on a chip embedded into her tattoo. So she only existed physically in that sense.
Seeing that he was coming to a stand like he was getting ready to leave. Frowning instantly at this, "You're leaving?" Becoming sad at the realization she was going to be alone again in her cell.

"Nightshade. The other you that kind of... took you over and... stuff," Lucidly, he struggled to find the correct wording, "She said that you think your attacking the doctors and guards when it's actually her," Ron elaborated.
"I've got all the info I need, it would be best for me to start writing the article where there aren't... distractions." He replied, glancing at an inmate stroking and cooing a pile of dead vines. Shaking his head, he turned back to Katarina.

"Who the hell is Nightshade? She's not me. I don't have anyone else." Katarina blinked confused. His words hit her as she was shocked shaking her head. Holding her head. "It's not true..I'm not crazy.." Growing upset. She didn't want to think she had multiple personalities. Her family had no history of mental illness.
Eyes looked at the inmate who was clearly acting abnormal. Picking up a stone as she hurled it at the inmate. Almost blaming him for Ron wanting to leave.

A look of regret laced Dick's features for even telling Katarina about Nightsahde, "I don't know how- she just said she was. That's all I know," his voice was swimming in remorse for the poor woman.
When Katarina threw a nearby rock at the inmate he reached his hand out, grabbing her wrist in an attempt to stop her from doing so. Luckily the rock missed, "Hey, you don't need to do that," he spoke sympathetically. A guard spotted Katarina's actions;
"Williams! One more warning and your back in your cell!"

Feeling her hand being grabbed as she lobbed the rock at the inmate. Looking back at Ron as her eyes were filled with tears upset. She looked broken.
When the guard yelled at her that only incited Nightshade's return. Hazel eyes turned dark again announcing her presence as the chip took control of her looking almost brainwashed in a way. Getting out of Ron's grasp instantly walking up to the guard who spoke to her. Grabbing him by the uniform's collar before bringing his head directly onto her knee to knock him out. "Now what.." Starting to laugh darkly. "You can't hurt me.." Kicking the guard in the rib's with her shoe.

Dick stood aghast when Katarina, or rather Nightshade, made her way towards the guard and tackled him to the ground with ease. 'They really need to up their security here,' he mused.
If he could, he would rip off his suit to reveal his Nightwing attire to go ahead and save the day. The trouble was that he didn't wear it under his business suit, it was in his briefcase. And he wasn't any Superman. A horde of guards were approaching around Nightshade and the unconcious victim on the floor. In case any of them should fail, which seemed unlikely considering they all looked like Vin Diesel clones, Dick approached the violent scene. Only to be shoved back by a nearby guard.
"Sir, stay well back. These crazies can get pretty out of hand."
