Harvey took a deep breath and dialled Olivia's number.
He wasn't at all sure how she wuld take the news about Suzume, but he definitely didn't want to put off telling her.
He thought for a moment what it would be like once the shock had worn off and Olivia had accepted Suzume. She would, of course, he was sure of it. She was so compassionate - how could she do otherwise?
For the first time in months, Harvey allowed himself to hope for a future that had the one thing he had always longed for - could they one day be a real family, the three of them?

Olivia was just leaving work when her phone rang. She smiled absently as she noted who it was and answered.
"Hey, Harv. Wasn't expecting to hear from you today! What's up?"

Harvey smiled at the sound of Olivia's voice. "You know I can't stay away from you, beautiful. Your cell phone is like a siren and I am the sailor bewitched by its call," he declaimed. "I know, that was cheesy as hell."
He idly span round 180 degrees in his desk chair. "Actually I was wondering if you had plans tonight. If not, do you want to come over? There's something I'd like to talk to you about. Nothing bad, don't worry."

Olivia laughed heartily. "Oh, wow. You should write greeting cards, Harvey. I'd buy them and give them to you. It would be quite fabulous, I think."
She raised her eyebrows as she continued her walk to the bus stop. "You're not pregnant, are you? In all seriousness, sure. What time do you want me, Mr. Dent?"

Harvey smiled. "Well, if this gangster thing doesn't work out I'll send my resume to Hallmark. Speaking of whom, what do you want to do for Valentine's day? We should do something special. You deserve it."
He made an unimpressed noise. "Oh, very funny. I guess that means it's diet time for the Harveys. Anyway, come over as soon as you like. I'm home now."

"I'll be there soon." Olivia said, smiling. She hung up and stepped onto the bus. Her thoughts were racing as she considered what Harvey wanted to discuss. Whatever it was probably wasn't great news for her.
After changing into a light pink sweater, dark jeans and knee high boots. She figured she may as well look pretty for whatever conversation was about to occur.
After a short cab ride, Olivia steeled herself before knocking on the door. This was bound to be interesting.

Harvey leaned forward and kissed her at the door. "Hey, sweetheart. You look lovely. As ever."
He took her coat and handed her a glass of red wine. "I'll be honest, you're going to want a drink for this."

Olivia took the wine glass and sank onto the sofa, staring at him oddly. "You're freaking me out, Dent. What's going on? You're not actually pregnant, are you? Or are you doing to tell me you're gay 100% of the time instead of 50? My heart can't take this!"

Harvey scowled. "Stop it, I'm being serious. And I'm NOT gay. Neither is Two-Face. I'm not even convinced he's really bisexual, he's just greedy."
He finished his own glass of wine, poured a second, and looked her in the eyes.
"There's no non-dramatic way to say this, but I'll do my best." He moved forwards to sit on the edge of the coffee table.
"Takenaka Suzume came to see me yesterday. She brought her birth certificate with her. Ollie..." he reached out a hand to take hers. "She told me that I'm her father."

Olivia grasped the wine glass with both hands, staring at him blankly. "I'm sorry, she said what? Harvey, she wasn't serious. She had to have made that up."
Olivia searched his face, feeling a rising wave of confusion when she saw how serious he was. She downed her glass of wine and sat quietly for a moment, taking in what he had just told her.
"You aren't joking. She really is, isn't she? Harvey...I don't...I don't even know what to say."

"I know," he said quietly, "I couldn't believe it myself either. But I saw the birth certificate, and I remember what happened. I was barely older than she is now. Just starting at Gotham University; just moved out from my parents' house, and you know what it's like. When you're free for the first time, you go a little wild. I was very young and very careless."
"Her eyes, Ollie," he said gently. "How often do you see a Japanese girl with blue eyes?"

Olivia shook her head in disbelief. "What, so you're the father of every blue eyed Japanese kid? I hate to burst your bubble but that's not really a solid argument to her parentage."
She set her wine glass down and sighed heavily. "Sorry, this is just a bit overwhelming. I mean...you have a daughter...and its her. What I want to know is what you plan to do next. Have her move in with you? Send her to school? Buy her a pony?"

"I could take a paternity test, she suggested it herself. But I don't know why she would fake a birth certificate, even though she clearly lost the fight for sanity long time ago. Of course that's just more evidence that I really am her father."
He looked vaguely frustrated. "Ollie, please. This is hard for me too, you know. And I don't know what I'm going to do."
His voice grew softer. "But I won't turn her away. I can't."

"Sorry, this is just really weird." Olivia sighed and reached out to take one of his hands. She idly traced the lines of his palm. "I mean, I'm happy for you I guess. I know how much you want a family."
She searched his face, frowning slightly. "I'm afraid she'll hurt you, Harv. I mean, the girl sent you severed heads in a bag. She's definitely unbalanced. She desperately needs psychiatric help."

Harvey's fingers closed over her smaller ones. He brought her hand to his lips. "I do. But this changes nothing between us, Ollie.. I still want a family of our own one day. With you."
He nodded slightly. "I know," he said his voice weary. "She's been through so much, Ollie. You cant imagine it. It's wonder she isn't more twisted than she already is... and she's so alone."
Harvey slipped from the ege of the coffee table to sit beside her, wrapping an arm around her. "I need you beside me here, Ollie. It would mean so much to me if you and her could be.. well, I know "stepmother" is hardly fitting given your ages. But you know what I mean."
