"I'm sure it would. Ive never thought you're stupid, Joker. You're like one of those badly behaved children who only acts up in class because they're racing ahead of everyone else and they're bored." He reached over and picked up a grape of his own from the plate. "Seriously though, did the shrinks ever test you?"
He considered Joker's decision to move out of the asylum. "So, what happens to Arkham? You're not leaving them to fend for themselves, are you? They need you. You're probably the only one who could keep order in place."
Harvey raised his eyebrows. "Well, I'm flattered. What is it about the Bat that intrigues you so much? You know he'll never want you like you want him. I'm assuming that's what this is about."

"They tried." Joker said smugly. "All thought I was stupid since I answered most of the questions wrong. Idiots, the lot of them. I find it much more pleasing to write Night on Bald Mountain into my standardized tests. Honestly, like knowing how many eggs Johnny has after fucking Jen is really gonna help you in the real world."
He shrugged and licked a piece of cheese. Realizing it wasn't a cracker, he tossed it back onto the tray and grabbed one. Joker had a certain fondness for licking the salt off of crackers. He wondered if he'd done it as a child.
"It really isn't my problem, Harvey. They were the ones who chose to stay, I didn't ask them to. Ruby I'll take care of since her bomb making is useful but the rest can die in a fire for all I care." His eyes lit up. "Maybe I"ll burn down the Asylum after I get my things out. That would be a poetic finish, don't you think?"
Joker shook his head, looking vaguely disappointed. "Don't even try to understand it, Harvey. He and I...he and I fit. I'm the scarred sign of his coin. Ain't it grand? I've found my soul mate!"

Harvey chuckled. "I bet you were a terror at school. I was a good guy, though... enrolled in every extra-curricular thing going so I never had to go home. Spanish club, baseball, soccer, chess club, the Christian union... I think the only thing I didn't join was the cheerleading squad."
He looked down at the plate and mentally noted which piece of cheese Joker had licked so that he didn't pick it up and eat it himself.
Discomfort rose in Harvey as Joker spoke so casually about abandoning his old comrades. Not for the first time, he was reminded of a spoiled, selfish child who broke his toys when he had grown tired of them. But it was more than that. It made him shiver to be confronted with how little empathy or emotion the Joker really had - how there was nothing in his universe but his own desires and need for constant attention.
"I don't think that's the best idea, Joker," he said carefully. "You might need alliances later. Or you may want to go back there one day. I'd keep my options open if I were you."
His discomfort grew more intense as Joker spoke almost reverently of the Batman. "And Two-Face?" he asked quietly. "What about him? I wouldn't say that's exactly how he feels about you - he has the other side of his coin already - but it's not far off. If he believed he had a soul he might say you were meant to be linked to it."

"I dunno why you didn't sign up for cheerleading. You have nice legs. That's important for cheering, you know."
Joker snorted. "Oh please, alliances with whom? Goodnite? The man's dumber than my left testicle. Kat? So unreliable about her drugs and with no real skills that are useful to me. Ruby's the only one with half a brain in that place and I'll make sure my girl gets out."
He tilted his head slightly and tapped his nose. "Actually, I do need to talk to Crane about something he was developing for me...Sometimes I wish I had a secretary."
He glanced at Harvey, gaze dark. "Well that's dandy. Don't get me wrong, I like Two-Face quite a bit but Batman is...he's different. It is an entirely different relationship, Harvey. You can't even compare them and its unfair to all three of us if you try. Well, all four if you count Batsy I guess."

Harvey raised his eyebrows. "Well. Thanks. I guess. But I'd prefer to actually be on the pitch, I'll leave the pompoms for now."
He frowned slightly but did his best to keep his voice level. "Those people have followed you for months, Joker. Don't you think they deserve to have their loyalty repaid? And anyway, I know gangsters. If you cross them now you can never expect them to side with you again." He shifted slightly and picked up another grape. "Besides, I don't want to see Arkham in Crane's hands again. The man who screwed Harley and nearly killed me. Do you?"
Harvey shrugged, smiling slightly at the thought of Joker with a PA. "So get one. Or better yet, offer the job to Ruby. She seems dependable."
Harvey said nothing. He had the horrible feeling that Two-Face was about to get his heart broken again. Once had been bad enough, but to have Joker drift away from him twice, and this time over an obsession with a caped vigilante might be more than his other self could take without resorting to murder. Two-Face had killed ex-girlfriends of Harvey's before - nobody special, just a girl or two who had tried to get too close after a brief infatuation on his part, but whether Two-Face would actually try to murder the man he loved in cold blood was not a question Harvey wanted to explore.
If Joker killed the Bat, however, that was absolutely fine.
"Why don't you try and sleep for a while," he suggested finally. "Is there anything else you need - some water, or another blanket or anything?"

((Sorry for taking forever to reply to this, Dentasaurus Rex. I miss your bacon face and probably won't be able to talk to it tonight again. Stupid piece of crap time zones x( ))
"I never asked for their loyalty, Harvey." Joker replied hotly. "All I did was liberate Arkham. Simple as that. I never asked for them to follow me or interact with me at all. Those that stayed did so on their own accord so don't go preaching to me that I owe them anything."
He popped a grape between his fingers irritably. "I swear to god, Harv, sometimes I wonder if you actually see me for who I am instead of who you want me to be."
Any semblance of a good mood broken, Joker got out of bed and began rooting around for his clothes. "Thanks for letting me crash here but I believe its time I took my leave. Tell Two-Face he's welcome to come visit once I get my place presentable for company."

(Joker, Darlin,' flattery will get you everywhere. You know this. But call me Baconface again and I will hurt you in a way you will NOT enjoy.)
Harvey's reserves of patience were being stretched to snapping point at how easily Joker could abandon those who cared for him while still demanding utter devotion from the people he somehow in his fractured mind considered "his." Losing his temper, however, would achieve nothing.
"True, but they want to follow you, Joker," he said as gently as he could manage, though a dark bitterness that was growing more and more familiar to him was growing in his heart. "You... I don't know, you attract them like a magnet or something. All these broken, messed up, insane people looking to you." His mouth quirked slightly but there was no humour in it. "Don't tell me you don't enjoy having that type of influence over them."
He watched as Joker clambered out of bed, voice heavy. "Joker. You're still not well. Now please, get back in bed. Two-Face will never let me hear the end of it if you die on the way out. Besides, I'd miss these ethical sparring matches of ours."

(( :* ))
Joker grinned at Harvey as his eyes gleamed with unspent malice. "It is rather flattering I'll give you that. Their twisted love for me doesn't change my feelings towards them. If they believe that then they are foolish. Harvey, they are nothing more than moths to a flame."
He sighed and crawled back into the bed. He rolled onto his side so that his back was to Harvey. "It isn't much of a match when you always back down to me. I mean, it's good that you do since you're wrong but your wording is still incorrect."
