Full Name: Dr. Jonathan Crane
Alias (if applicable): Scarecrow
Birthday: March 15, 1974
Age: 36
Hometown: Gotham
Appearance: Jonathan Crane is tall and is ever so slightly lanky. He rarely shaves and his hair dark brown hair is generally disheveled as Crane takes very little time to bother with appearances. He is more often than not wearing his Lab coat with glasses and an ill fitting suit on underneath.
Personality: Crane, while well spoken a possessing the potential to be extremely influential, often forgoes the use interpersonal skills, caring more about his work than anyone or anything around him. His passion and primary motivation for being a psychologist is fear. All of his "studies" within the asylum are based around fear and how it affects the mind. He has a phobia of bats. He likes authority and exercises it whenever he can, whether it be ordering around the other employees of the asylum or disappearing and leaving the others to run things for day at a time while he conducts his experiments. While he had been stable ever since his release from the youth asylum, the prolonged exposure to the belligerent patients of Arkham and the scorn of some of the other Doctors have slowly eroded Crane's mental defenses. He appears to those around him to be fine (fine being a relative term) but his cold, and dispassionate exterior hide a lapse in sanity and an addiction to fear.
Special Abilities: Crane is extremely skilled with words, when he wants to be, knowing just what to say and how to say it to create the maximum influence on a person. He is also highly familiar with chemicals and other toxins that cause hallucinations.
History: Jonathan Crane had a relatively normal home life growing up. His Father worked and his mother stayed home. He was a frail child and very bookish by nature. This often lead to him getting picked on in school. As he entered high school the bullying grew to new levels causing him great emotional stress. Crane eventually broke down and at age 17, dressed as a scarecrow, went to his high school prom intending to gun down his classmates. Before he could carry out his plan, however, he was arrested and admitted to an asylum for the mentally unstable youth. It was here that he found his passion for psychology and with it his love of fear. He was able to receive a diploma from the institute and upon his release (declared sane and his record expunged) he was accepted to Gotham University to study psychology.
After 8 years of school Crane received his doctorate in psychology, and immediately went to work at Arkham Asylum where he has been ever since. At first only working with patients who had extreme phobias Crane slowly moved up the ladder, working with patients of all types, to become the head of the asylum. As he moved up the ranks in the asylum his studies became more and more "experimental" in secret he would conduct experiments using hallucinogens to study the effects they had on fear in his patients. Once Crane became the head doctor he began to work even more passionately on his fear experiments often "becoming ill" and not being around for days at a time, a practice which he continues to this day.
