(OOC: Set late in the evening, the night before the fundraiser)
Harvey Dent leafed through a magazine, occasionally picking up the TV's remote control to flick to another station. He settled on a movie channel for a while.
He had spent the last few hours poring over a floorplan of Arkham Asylum. He'd carefully noted all entrances and exits, walking in his mind through the dark corridors of the place and remembering the locations of the guard stations and the locked doors. Satisfied that he had memorised the building's layout and prepared himself as well as he could for whatever might take place on Friday night, he rolled up the plans and filed them neatly in a drawer.
~Who do you think is hotter, O-Ren Ishii or Elle Driver?~
Harvey looked up at the familiar voice in his head.
~There you are. I was wondering where you'd got to.~
~Around. I've been around. So go on, who's hotter? ~
Harvey played along, and looked over at the Tarnatino movie playing on the TV. ~It's a difficult one to call. But all things considered, it has to be O-Ren.~
Two-Face snorted. ~You're so deluded , Harv. It's definitely Elle.~
Harvey hid a smile. ~Is it the eye patch?~
~It's the nurse's uniform...~
Two-Face was silent again. Harvey waited, but his other side said nothing more.
~You've been very quiet this week. Is there something the matter?~
~ Not at all. I've just been enjoying myself watching our memories of the lovely Miss Hale.~ Harvey's eyebrows knitted as he scowled. ~I didn't mean like that. And actually I was watching you. I mean, it's nice to see you happy. And being with her does make you happy, doesn't it?~
Harvey was quiet for a moment, his gaze far away before he answered. ~Yes. It does.~
Two Face's voice was almost sorrowful. ~Then I know how hard tomorrow night is going to be for you, Harvey.~
Harvey rose to his feet, crossing slowly to his living room window and gazing out over the city. To the north he could see the trees of the Elizabeth Arkham Estate, a patch of blackness in the carpet of lights that was Gotham City.
Arkham. The true dark heart of the city. And as he knew, hearts broke so easily.
