Personality: Renee is generally a great person to be around. She is compassionate, understanding and helpful. When she gets angry, however, she can be an absolute nightmare. Renee is also very driven and motivated. She's the type of woman who will come in early and stay late. She loves being a police officer.

History: Renee was born to Hernando and Louisa in Ponce, Puerto Rico. When she was very young, the family moved to Gotham City, New Jersey where her brother Benny was born. She grew up strictly Roman Catholic, which has caused some conflicts in her life.
Renee and her brother are very close. He was one of the first people to know that she was a lesbian. Due to her extremely religious parents, Renee had to keep her sexual orientation a secret for a very long time. Her parents weren't the only reason she kept that fact secret. Renee also struggled with the idea of being something that was so against her religious values. After she moved out, she stopped going to church as often, but still considers herself a Catholic.
She did fairly well in school, but her grades were never that impressive. She always excelled in P.E. and sports in general, and this was part of the reason she decided to become a police officer. The other major factor was that she saw the corruption in the police force and wanted to help change it.
Renee went to a two-year school and got her degree in criminal justice. After going through all of her training, she was hired by the Gotham Police Department where she quickly rose up the ranks and became well respected by her fellow officers.
When she was 25, her parents found out that she was a lesbian. Renee was promptly disowned, but still keeps in touch with her brother. The entire situation fueled her growing problem with alcohol.
