Appearance:
Tall (6'4) and skinny with brown hair and brown eyes. The dark circles around Matthew's eyes are natural, caused because of a medical reason. He will, occasionally, wear glasses, big glasses, but it isn't often and they're mainly used for reading. Also, while working, he wears shirts, ties and, occasionally, waist coats with a blazer. These don't often match and he wears odd socks.
Personality:
Quiet, shy, smart. Reid is the perfect Arkham doctor. He's quiet because of his past. He is incredibly logical, but will also play mind games to achieve what he wants and to get information. He has never been one for arguing with people, as he's a very quiet person and previous experience (schools) have taught him that arguing only leads to violence, something he doesn't like.
Special Abilities:
Most people he meets would call him a genius, but he's just extremely smart.
History:
Born on 27 February, 1982, Matthew was born to Diana and William Reid. He grew up listening to his parents fighting every night and it soon became a normal thing in his mind.
3 years after Matthew was born, his sister, Jane Reid was born. He then became a parent figure to Jane as well as a brother figure as the arguments grew fiercer, often waking the younger sibling up.
When Reid was 16, his father left the family house and moved to New Jersey after 13+ years of arguments, every single one witnessed by at least one of the Reid siblings. At 18, Matt's mum was sent to a mental institute after Matthew sent her there. Her mental health was deteriorating and she was a schizophrenic. Matt became her doctor at the mental institute so he could look after her properly. At 19, Matthew's mother finally forgot who he was and he had a breakdown, causing him to have to quit his job until he got over it, which was for two years, and he had to try and look after Jane during this. At this time, he was also drinking and often ended up passing out because of the amount he was drinking, reversing the roles between himself and Jane.
When he turned 21, Reid re-gained his job at the asylum his mother was at. He claimed to be over his mother's memory loss, giving him back the job of being her doctor. He wasn't though and was suffering more and more because of his emotions being so raw. When he was 22, Matthew's mum died. Just before she died, she regained her memory and her last words to Matthew were 'Don't forget me.'.
Now, at 28, Matthew Reid has moved to Gotham to work at Arkham Asylum. He doesn't know what his job will bring...
