Full Name: Ruby Carter
Alias (if applicable): Rubix Cube
Birthday: April 2, 1987
Age: 23
Hometown: Gotham
Appearance: Ruby Carter stands at a tall 5 feet 9 inches, her legs being the longer, and most toned, part of her body. She has chest-length light blonde hair and blue eyes. Ruby is underweight for her height, weighing only 114lbs, but has slight curves, her waist being smaller than her chest and hips causes her to have the beginnings of an hourglass figure. Her choice of attire is a dirty, torn, well-worn wedding dress, storing weapons such as bombs, guns and knives in her garter belt.
As "innocent" and "beautiful" Ruby is on the outside, the inside tells a different story.
Personality: Ruby has always mystified doctors. Needless to say, the doctors at Arkham have slight problems with her. Ruby has bipolar disorder, is a compulsive liar, violent, has sadomasochistic tendencies and is an extreme misanthrope. She suffers from insomnia and paranoia, and also very, very mild amnesia, caused by her previous dabbles in drugs. Her weakness is a man that shows her love (in the right way), and if he stays loyal to her, she'll do anything for him.
Special Abilities: The doctors at Arkham, and Ruby's previous doctors, have both experienced Ruby's ability to sneak away. She is extremely smart and is able to remember facts and places better than any average Arkham patient. Ruby can create bombs that can blow up a whole house in under 10 minutes due to prolonged experience and from watching her father creating them for the Mob. She is an expert with weapons of all sorts.
History: Ruby Carter grew up in the outer-parts of Gotham. When she was 9, she witnessed a meeting between her father and Sal Maroni, the head of Gotham's Mob at the time. Her father worked for the mob, creating weapons and such for them to supply and sell. A few years later, the Mob raided her house. Her father had failed to complete an "important" task, and they were here to find him. Her father being out at the time, the Mob settled with Ruby's mother, murdering her brutally whilst Ruby hid in the attic. After this incident, Ruby's father turned alcoholic and abusive, blaming his wife's death on Ruby.
When Ruby turned 16, she decided she'd had enough. Each night after school, she spent time making small bombs, under the disguise of Rubik's Cubes. Finally, after many months, she had invented one powerful enough to blow her house to bits. That night, she packed her bag, taking very few belongings, which included her bank statements and all the cash in the house, and planted the Rubik's Cube bomb on the kitchen table, leaving a note on top. She left the house and hid in the branches of a tree to watch her father come home. She watched through the kitchen window from above as her father picked up the note. Quietly, she dropped from the branch, walked until she was a good distance away from her previous home and pressed the detonator button. Everything in the residence was destroyed.
Ruby dyed her hair black and moved deeper into Gotham. She got a job at a music store a few blocks down from her apartment. She met a boy named Dan when she was 18 and fell in love with him. In Ruby's eyes, Dan was a saint. To others, he was a chameleon, if his happiness was disturbed, he would become disturbed. Dan was a long-time drug user, preferring to use heroin and cocaine and even got Ruby to shoot up or snort. When they were high, it was heaven, and if they were happy it was even greater. But if their drug supply was running short, they'd be monstrous, Dan frequently getting drunk and punishing Ruby for the shortage of drugs through violence.
On her (coked up) 20th birthday, he proposed. They were due to marry on his birthday, September 5th, the same year. Ruby had never been so happy and couldn't wait to start a family with Dan. The wedding day arrived and Ruby was forever wishing it to happen already.
Dan never showed up to the altar. Strangely, neither did one of Ruby's bridesmaids. Not only was Ruby's heart broken, but her mind was too. She started to believe that the whole world was against her and was evil, the betrayal of her best friend and lover corrupting her mind into something ugly. Ruby cut off all connections with the outside world, isolating herself as she created and invented weapons just like her father did. Her black hair grew out, her blonde locks returning, making her look more innocent.
One of the points on her long list of To-Dos was to attack Gotham's mob and get even.* She had all the information she needed to find them; the location, time, days they met and had the perfect device to kill them. So she went along during the meeting, and posed no threat. She offered that they would work for her now, supplying her with the money, and they would get fair shares amongst them from the jobs they did for her. They refused, the masculinity in them denying to be overpowered by "dumb blonde" woman. Ruby let them (eternally)sleep on it, leaving a Rubik's Cube in the hands of one of the members. Rubix Cube made the news that night, and continued to strike fear into the city's heart.
After a good, long 8 months of terrorizing Gotham, Ruby was caught by Jim Gordon. She had been planting tiny Rubik's cube's all over the city, planning to completely ruin Gotham. The cops tracked her down in a bordering city, in a hideout, and stopped and knocked her into unconsciousness before she blast the surroundings to pieces. Gordon took her to Arkham Asylum, hoping for the poor young girl to get a healthy mind again. Little did he know, this was where the real fun started..
* - This is maybe a year or few after the Joker was institutionalized, with previous rookie members of the Mob becoming the bosses.
