It was rare that Harley ever suggested anything that the Joker would take on board but today he'd been in a good mood and so had agreed that they could visit the zoo to look for new pets. Harley was worried that Bud and Lou were getting lonely and was sure a nice lion cub or zebra foal to look after would cheer them up and so was looking forward to the trip incredibly. And of course it meant that she would get to spend some alone time with Mistah J, which was becoming a rarity with all his plans for Gotham and the Batman taking up his time.
Of course, being two of Gotham's most wanted criminals, they couldn't just waltz into the zoo as they were unless they wanted to create a scene so the occasion called for disguises. To Harley, it was just a chance to play dress-up and she'd spent a good chunk of the morning flitting around the comedy club they were calling home, making herself up. Finally, she stepped out of the bathroom and twirled around infront of the Joker. She was dressed in a simple red and white gingham dress with long white socks and red shoes, her hair in two braids tied with white ribbons. It wasn't the most incongruous of disguises really, but she liked it.
'Ta-da!'

((For anyone reading this, the Harley and J in this thread are comic style )) Joker massaged his temples. He was beginning to regret the decision to go on this little outing. They had planned on leaving an hour ago but Harley was still crashing around in the bathroom. He'd been dressed for a few hours in a simple pair of black slacks and a white t-shirt. He'd regretfully dyed his hair to a boring old brown and had applied copious amounts of 'normal' skin colored make-up to his entire body. When Harley exploded out into the room, he rolled his eyes dramatically. "Pooh, I thought you didn't want to cause a scene. While I like the outfit, I'm not sure how well this will go over out in public."

Harley's lip wobbled (all for effect, of course as inside she was beaming to know he liked the outfit) and she gave him her best puppy dog eyes. It amused her to see him all made up to look 'normal' but she knew she'd quickly get bored and want her green-haired, clown face Joker back.
'But J,' she whined, twirling around again as if he'd missed something the first time round. 'There's no black on it anywhere! No one will know it's me at all!'

Joker stood up and stalked over to her. He gave one of her braided pig tails a sharp tug. "Didn't I tell you to call me Mr. J, Harley?" He growled, face very close to hers. "Now, lose the socks and change your shoes and then we can go."
He released her and sat back in his chair, waiting rather impatiently for Harley to follow his instructions.

Giving a high-pitched 'ouchie!' as he tugged on her braid, her hand going to her scalp as soon as he let her go, scared he'd of managed to pull a great chunk of her hair out even though she knew it would have hurt a lot more if he had. So much for the good mood.
Bending only at the waist, Harley lent over and undid her shoes, kicking them off before she rolled down the socks and threw them in a random direction. Finding a pair of simple white flats (one of few sets of shoes Bud had yet to chew) she shoved them on before she skipped back to the Joker.
'Better, Mistah J?'

Joker beamed as he stood up. "Much better, Harley-girl!" He kissed the top of her head and led her out to the little black car that they'd 'rented' for the occasion.
After a short drive, they arrived at the zoo. Joker was actually rather excited about this trip. He occasionally enjoyed going out incognito to see how the hoi polloi lived.
He took Harley's hand as they walked in, a wide smile on his face. "Where do you want to go first, Pooh?"

Harley was like an excited child all the way to the zoo, barely keeping herself from bouncing in her seat as they travelled. When they got to the zoo itself, she was grinning, squeezing the Joker's hand as he took it and crossing her other arm across herself to hold his wrist too.
At the question, Harley began tugging him a certain way, 'the hyenas!' she replied, as if it were obvious, 'we have to see the babies' family!'

Joker smiled patiently and allowed himself to be tugged along. "Of course, how silly of me." As they walked towards the hyenas, his eyes were constantly in motion, taking in every person they walked past. The silly Gothamites were completely unaware that two of the most wanted people on the east coast were strolling through the zoo, and this entertained him.
Once they'd reached the exhibit, Joker frowned. "Do you see any, Harls?"

Harley didn't even spare the people around them a second glance as she passed, too driven on getting to the hyena enclosure. When they reached the expansive penned-in area, Harley squinted as she tried to find where the animals were hiding. Her bottom lip stuck out in something of a pout when at first she couldn't see a single spotted bit of fur but her face lit up as something on the other side of the pen stuck it's head up over a little construct the hyenas used to sleep in when it got cold.
'Puddin' look!' she squealed excitedly, squeezing the Joker's hand tightly as she pointed at the hyena slowly observing them.

Joker rolled his eyes once more but couldn't quite keep the indulgent smile from his face. "Wow, baby, a hyena. I've never seen one before in my whole life!"
He leaned forward, squinting at it. "How come Bud and Lou aren't that big? This one seems a lot more menacing than our mangy mutts."
A little girl who was standing next to him looked up with wide eyes. "You have a hyena?" She asked in wonder.
Joker released Harley's hand and leaned down, resting his hands on his knees. "That's silly." He said, smiling widely. "I have two hyenas and they love to eat little girls like you for lunch!"
She squealed and ran to catch up to her family, shooting frightened looks at Joker who was now fighting to control his giggles. He knew that if he broke into a full blown laugh the GPD would be on him in a second, which would be inconvenient for this outing.
