Three's a Crowd [Harvey & Bruce]

[Bruce Wayne]

Bruce smiled as he clapped his friend on the back.

"Well that's good to hear."

He wasn't sure what to do. To stay could get awkward, but to go might raise to many questions.

"Ah, I dunno Harve. I don't want to interrupt. I should probably be going anyway."

[Olivia Hale]

Olivia moved into the kitchen and put more coffee in the machine. "You're not interrupting, Bruce. It'll put less pressure on me to eat all of Harvey's food! He seems to think that if he keeps cooking me huge meals I'll be able to clean my plate one day."

While it brewed she walked back out to the living room and sank onto the couch, looking between the two men. "This will be...nice. We don't get much company, do we, Harv?"

Harvey shook his head and propelled Bruce to one of the stools that stoo by the breakfast bar. "You're not interrupting," he said sternly. "Now, do you want scrambled eggs or omelette?"

He glanced at Olivia, smiling slightly. "My portions aren't that huge. You're just little."

He took a frying pan from a cupboard and set it on the stove. "Could you turn the news on, sweetheart?" he glanced at Bruce "Got to keep up to date with what the Bat's been up to. He's starting to really worry me. He put three of my guys in hospital last week and as soon as they're out, they're going straight to Blackgate. Do you know how much he's costing me?"

Bruce took a seat at the stool. He winced internally at the mention of batman. He distinctly remembered the night Harvey was talking about.

"I'm sure they'll be fine. Doesn't he leave everyone fairly intact?"

He shot a sideways glance at Olivia to take his mind off of the dilemma at hand. He very quickly realized that doing so only created another dilemma. He turned his head to the table and tapped his fingers.

Olivia laughed in disbelief at Bruce. "Intact? Have you seen Harvey's wrists? The Bat destroyed them with freaking ninja stars. I'm still rather on the fence about him, to be honest."

She flipped on the TV and switched from BBC America to the 24 hour news channel. She managed to catch Bruce's eye as he glanced at her and turned slightly pink. This would be awkward...

The coffee had finished so Olivia poured the three of them cups. After fixing her own (more sugar than should be allowed for an adult with a fair amount of half & half), she set Bruce's in front of him with an assortment of delicious things to mix in.

She then straightened the hem of Harvey's shirt and picked a stray thread off. "Want your cup now, Harv?"

Harvey glanced at Bruce as he took eggs, butter and milk out of the fridge. "Well, actually the Batman wasn't their main reason for being in hospital. Two-Face was. He overreacted a bit when he found out about their heist had failed."

He set the items down and put a large frying pan on the stove. "Ollie's right about the ninja stars. You haven't seen these, have you?" He pushed the sleeves of his sweater up to the elbows to display the tattoos on his forearms and walked over to Bruce.

"He threw two of these his shuriken things at me the night I was arrested; they sliced right across my wrists. The scars shouldn't have been that bad but Two-Face reopened them pulling against his handcuffs one day, and then I ripped the re-stitched wounds right open when Crane used his filthy toxin on me. We got sick of looking at them, so Two-Face decided he wanted to cover them up with tattoos. Joker did them for him."

He looked at the dark, sweeping designs. "My first prison tattoos. Finally I feel like a proper criminal."

The night in the hotel flashed vividly in his mind as he looked down at the tattoos.

"You didn't mention it. I'll admit, that's a little rough treatment. But then you did have a gun drawn on him. Didn't you?"
