Matthew nodded, looking around them as he finished his plate of food, minus a small amount of vegetables and some sauce. He never really ate a lot, though he felt a little bad about leaving the food... He looked out at the sky, then at the rest of the view. He didn't know what to say though, so didn't say anything, instead letting silence fall over his side of the conversation.

Inwardly Alison shrugged her shoulders watching him finish his plate. She continued to eat hers. Picking at it a little she smiled.
"Don't worry about finishing it, I'll maybe pack you some to go. That's if you want some left overs." She cleared her plate eating the rest of the food in somewhat silence.

Matthew smiled softly and shrugged softly at her words.
"That would probably be a good idea." He nodded, smile growing more amused than before. He looked back out at the view then at her, finding her much more interesting (and matching the view in looks).

Alison looked up to Matthew staring at her. She gave a soft smiled and blushed. Clearing up her plate she felt a little full but she wanted to save some room for dessert. Looking around her eyes landed back onto Matthew.
"I hope you have some room for dessert." She said cheerfully then continued. "And I do have a coffee machine. Of course we don't have to have dessert right away. We can just chat for a while, if you want."

Matthew smiled at her words and when she said about them just chatting, Matthew shrugged. He didn't mind what happened, truthfully. He was never good at deciding.
"I don't mind what happens..." He told her, looking at the view then at her. He scratched his arm softly. "Though, chatting a little would be nice..." He shrugged. He hated the word nice... But there was no other way to describe it, unfortunately.

Alison set her elbows on the table, folded her fingers together, then rested her chin on her hand. She closed her eyes just for a couple of seconds then reopened. Smiling she like this feeling when around Matthew.
"What did you like to do when you were a child?" She was slightly curious about Matthew's childhood. It was a fairly innocent question to her. She hoped that she wasn't treading on thin ice.

Matthew shrugged. He liked the same stuff during his childhood as he did now.
"Reading, mainly..." He answered softly. His house, as a child, had always been filled with books, his mum had continuously bought them but never sold them. As a result, Matthew had read heaps as a child and when he'd moved here, he brought a many as he could, mainly his, Jane's and his mum's favourites. "What about you?"

Alison smile brighten when Matthew said books. She loves books. One really couldn't tell from the fact that she didn't really have a lot in her apartment. But she just enjoy going into another world from which the author created. She had to think back to when she was a child. All the memories just stuck to her. They didn't really have a lot of money since her father was murder, then everything either had to the bills, house, education. She even lucky to get her violin lessons.
"I enjoyed and still enjoy reading, playing childhood games, and playing my violin. Although..."She looked down for a for a couple of seconds to regain herself then continued in a shaky voice."I think I was pretty selfish. Requesting my mother to keep my lessons going. Now that I think about it. I was consider the brat."
Taking a deep breathe she calmed herself down. Even though her sibling were understanding of her, she still considered herself the brat. She wasn't even the last child. She was the middle. Giving a smile to Matthew, to letting him know that she'll be fine. She knew somethings she cant keep forever.

Matthew looked at her. He didn't think she was particularly selfish for wanting to keep the lessons going. It was something she enjoyed and loved, what was selfish about wanting a form of enjoyment that wasn't just books or games.
"Why d'you think you were selfish? It was something you enjoyed and probably kept you happy..." He shrugged having spoken softly and looking at the table before looking at her, a small smile perched on his lips. He hoped the smile was somewhat comforting to her.

Alison tried to take the smile as a comfort but she still felt that it was selfish.
"At the time, my father was murdered. So my mom had to take two jobs to pay the bills, the house, and anything that we needed. Yet she still was in some finacial trouble. I had to insist upon the lessons." She was starting to stare away, trying to remember everything. Blinking her eyes, she just came back into reality. Back to Matthew. She really needed to stop doing that.

Matthew gave a small shrug and said nothing more. Obviously it was upsetting or irritating her, so he didn't ask anymore about it, instead trying to think of something else to say. He couldn't think of anything though, so stayed silent, waiting for her to say something instead. He really couldn't think of anything to say or ask or... Anything... His gaze shifted to the table edge as his fingers began picking a little at it.

Alison gathered herself together and smiled. Muttering softly a 'Sorry' she let her gaze fall to the table. Looking back up she let her smile show. Changing the subject she slid her hands to her lap, just letting it rest.
"So, have you ever fancied anyone?"

"I-Uh... Uh..." Matthew stuttered, caught off-guard by the question and he blushed a little, though barely noticeable as he tilted his head down. He didn't really want to answer her question, but on the other hand, it would be one less thing for her to wonder about. "In 6th grade... She- She was..." He gave a soft laugh. "Blond... It was short lived though..." He mumbled, a small smile on his lips when he'd said that the girl had been blond.
Pushing his hair back, Matthew looked at Alison while thinking of a question. He never really cared too much about who people 'loved'... Or liked... "What's the strangest thing that's happened to you?" He asked her, curious now.

Blondes, eh? Alison was trying to imagine Matthew as a 6th grader. Listening to him stuttering she found it kinda cute. She was adjusting to him. Relearning to love. She never thought that she would be here with him. Alone. She suddenly realized that she was a blonde. Feeling disappointed in herself but she kept her smile.
"The most strangest thing that has ever happened to me was when I was in Yale. I had a friend who was an upper-class man who had to go to a seminar, and could invite a friend. So she invited me. The class was watching the men cut a man open. I sat there and suddenly...I saw the man head fall towards me. His eyes were shut but I had this feeling that he was watching me. One of the men saw this and he turned the head back. My friend looked towards me and my face looked pretty freaked. She comforted me. Then it happened again" She was remembering what happened. Nothing really flashed through her face as emotion wise. "I don't really believe in the afterlife...as ghost wise. Or I'm not even sure if God is real but it creeped me a bit."

Matthew nodded, listening interestedly. He'd never had anything overly strange happen to him... Well, nothing he'd consider overly strange at any rate. He wondered what her next question would be but could already think of a question, though he was unsure, as of yet, how to word it without seeming odd or strange... There isn't really a way to ask about children without sounding strange though...
