Matthew gave a small frown of questioning but asked nothing, instead trying to decide on whether to tell the truth, that he'd always been a doctor, or lie and say something else, like a shelf stacker or something.
"Uh... I've always been a doctor." He answered, somewhat embarrassed by this fact. "What about you?" He then asked, trying to move the conversation away from him a little. He actually, for some reason completely unknown to him, found the fact that he'd never had a different job rather embarrassing...

Taking the bite of her cake she still ended up finishing first. Sighing inwardly she took a sip of coffee. She was slightly surprised to Matthew was a doctor all his life. It was kinda interesting to see someone dedicated to their jobs. As he asked his question she looked into her cup. She could faintly see her reflection.
"My very first job was a librarian secretary. I was in Yale when I needed some spending money. Instead of asking my sister, I went out and got a job." She slightly chuckled then continued to finished. "When my sister found out she was mad at me for not asking. But I wanted to be independent. I think she never wanted me to grow up as fast as I did."

Matthew smiled at her words. He couldn't say that he knew how it felt to not want a younger sibling to grow up quickly... He wished his younger sibling would actually grow up at some point, but it didn't seem likely to happen. He finished his own dessert and sipped at the coffee softly.
"Maybe..." He agreed, nodding a little as he did so. His lips were pulled into a bigger smile than before as he took another sip.

"Come, I'll show you my violin." She gather the plates and everything else to set them on the tray. Leaving Matthew's coffee for him to continue to drink. She stood up and waited slightly for him. Walking down the stair back into her apartment. She slight stopped by the living room.
"If you want you can take a seat on the sofa." Alison went into the kitchen to set the tray back down. With a smile, she raced into her bedroom to get her case with her violin. Re-entering the living room she held the black shaped violin case. Setting the case gently down on the coffee table. She open the case to show of the wooden instrument then she pulled out the bow.

Following Alison inside while he carried his coffee, Matthew sat on the sofa while Alison went and got her violin. He wondered how good she was at playing, though he suspected her being very good. His sister had always wanted to learn the violin, but they'd never had the time nor money. Giving her his full attention, he waited for her to begin.

Alison couldn't help but notice Matthews expected look. She smiled then took out her violin. Standing up she let it rest on her shoulders.
"I found sheet music to this song and I thought it was kinda cool so here it is." She closed her eyes letting the bow slide against the string. Like a rhythm that was helped her continued without the sheet music. As she closed the song she let her eyes slowly open. She looked relaxed then happy. Although she couldn't believe that she had just played a song for him.

Listening to her play, Matthew smiled at how good she was. It was a slight surprise as to just how good she was, or at least, in his mind how good, but he was glad that she'd played. When she'd finished, he applauded her. Smile growing, he wasn't sure what exactly to say.
"You're, you are unbelievably amazing." He decided on saying truthfully.

"Thank you." Alison blushed at his complement. She honestly hadn't played for anyone in a long time, so she was sure how well it turned out. But she felt comfortable around Matthew. Looking down at her instrument she gave a soft smile.
"I'm not really all that good though...There are some song that I really mess up on. And I'm really picky about the songs I play." She put the bow in the same hand as the violin as she rubbed the back of her neck. Her nerves were going to kill her.

Matthew shrugged.
"Everyone fails a little at something to do with what they're good at." He said, hoping to sound somewhat comforting but unsure as to whether he'd actually managed it. He had never been good at being comforting... He gave a small smile, uncertain as to what to say next, if anything.

Alison looked up at Matthew with a bright smile. She could tell that he was comforting her. Suddenly she realized how selfish her last comment was. She sat down on the couch next to Matt. Mumbling a softy "sorry..." she hoped that he didn't hear her, but at the same time she hoped he did. She rest the violin on her legs and the bow against her leg. Slight curious at her instrument she started plunking the strings making the song 'Twinkle, Twinkle little star'. She looked up at Matthew with a big tooth gin.

Pretending like he hadn't heard her apology, because he didn't think she had anything to apologize for, Matthew watched her and grinned when she'd finished and looked at him. He nodded jokingly.
"Amazing." He chuckled, finding the current time rather funny now as he giggled. He wanted, rather badly, to put an arm around her, but he wasn't sure what she'd do if he did, so he didn't, instead he drank some more coffee.

Alison nodded her head in agreement. Suddenly an idea came her, she couldn't help but get her bow. Holding onto the violin she fetched a three ring binder filled with music sheets of all her favorite songs. She was great at all of them but maybe he wanted to hear it she would give it a try. Smiling she flipped open the binder then now was resting on the coffee table.
"You choose a song that you would like me to play." She looked at him expectantly.

Matthew looked slightly surprised before looking at the binder. He flicked through before coming to a song that looked like it would be good. He pointed at it and showed Alison the song he'd chosen.
"That one." He requested softly, smiling at her.
((You decide, I dunno what songs have violin in them...))

Alison couldn't help but smile at Matthew's selection. Of course he would pick the one that somewhat her favorite but needed much practice in. She picked up the note book to set it in birds eye-view, which was on a shelve. Looking at it she repositioned herself. She started to play then almost forgot the double-stops. Inwardly cringing at the screw ups she continued on. Finishing the music she hoped it wasn't a total failure at the song. ((It's extremely hard to find a song...that Matthew might've picked. Next time just Youtube: Violin Solo Music. That's how I've found what songs to play. Hehehehe...sorry for sounding to harsh. ))

Matthew smiled as she played and noticed her flinch but didn't really pay it much attention. The song was good anyways and he was kind of glad that he'd chosen that one as opposed to another. Clapping once more when she finished, he felt his smile growing slightly. He'd never actually heard that song before, but she managed to play it almost perfectly, he suspected.
((Ahhh, righto. :]))
