No longer looking at her hand, Matthew gave a small shrug. He'd never liked many other poets, but there were a few poems he liked that weren't by Poe.
"Only a few poems, I've never really read that many other poems... I like Emily Dickinson, Walter De La Mare and T.S. Elliot..." He mumbled in answer, somewhat ashamed by the fact that he'd not really read many other poems. "What about you?" He asked softly, not sure why his tone was so soft but at the same time not minding that much.

She loved reading from other poets. Looking down to the ground she couldn't help to notice the warmth from his hand.
"There's so many, E.E Cummings, Shel Silverstein, Emily Bronte, C.S. Lewis, William Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, and Oscar Wilde are some of my favorites." She curled her legs from underneath her, almost sitting on them. The night sky shown from her window. She glanced toward Matthew with a smile then asked. "Do you have a role model - someone you want to emulate? Whom do you admire the most?"

Matthew shrugged. He didn't know who he admired...
"I... I don't know... I don't really admire anyone..." He answered softly, frowning slightly in thought before unconsciously tightening his grip on her hand slightly, barely noticeably. "D'you admire anyone?" He asked her, looking at her with an expression of curiousity spread across his features.

Alison laid her head back on the couch. Smiling she turned to face him.
"I admire everyone who steps into my life big or small parts." She took her other hand and started doodling on her leg. It wasn't a picture just moving her finger around.

Matthew gave a small smile.
"How come?" He asked her, curious about her reasons. He didn't admire everyone who walked into his life, for the simple fact that they might not be in his life for a good reason. It could be someone like the Joker or Dent, or it could be someone like Alison or Logan. But then again, he never really admired anyone in life, so that must say something about him.

Shrugging her shoulders she thought about little. Not that she needed to, everyone is special in there own way. Alison eyes looked with a soft look.
"Because, everyone that I met make a mark in my heart. I-uh...Even if they hurt me, they were the ones that made me stronger. While the others...The ones that makes me remember them, help me remember not to give up. I admire everyone so I know what I want to become." She realized that she had convection in her voice while thinking that she rambled on. Muttering a soft "sorry" she looked down at her finger doodling. Finding it more interesting then anything else.

Matthew gave a small smile then a soft frown of confusion at her apology.
"Why d'you keep apologising?" He asked, his voice letting through his curiousity. He looked at her face, tilting his head to one side slightly in questioning and curiousity.

Alison's head turned back to face him. Somewhat shocked that he notices that she keeps apologizing. She then changed her expression to an unreadable state. Smiling at him, she offered her reason.
"I don't want to offend anyone, or seem like I'm bothering them. As long as they are happy, that all that matters." Even if it hurts me, I would still make people happy. Speaking the last part to herself. She cares for everyone. Her sister calls it unconditional love, but she really calls it masking the pain. Hiding herself to helping others, except herself.

Matthew, needless to say, didn't normally care too much about offending people. If he felt that he needed to, he would apologize, but otherwise, he didn't bother. When he was younger, he used to apologize heaps, much like Alison, but as he grew up, he was more taught to never apologize for things that couldn't be changed, so he didn't.
Giving a small shrug, he looked at his empty hand.
"If people get offended that easily, then maybe they shouldn't talk to other people..." He muttered softly, his tone having a slightly friendly sound but his words holding some form of annoyance at the fact that people would be offended so easily by someone else's reasoning. He looked at her. "That sounded a little more harsh than it was supposed to, didn't it?" He asked with a small and slight laugh.

Alison almost wanted to apologize again but stopped when she knew that it would make him upset. Nodding her head, she understood what he meant but she didn't want people to hate each other. A peacemaker, would be what others would call her. She loves peace. She shook her head answering him silently. Looking to the carpet floor she wanted to say something but instead opted to say another thing.
"I will try not to apologize so much..." She gave a soft smile before bringing her legs closer to herself. Almost curling herself into a ball. Stopping herself, she needed to keep herself open.

Matthew pushed his hair out of his face. Now he felt really bad about what he'd said. He shrugged, so tempted to apologise but more tempted to keep silent, and so he did the latter. The only problem that Matthew could find with his choice, was that the silence felt very awkward now, in Matthew's opinion.

Looking up at Matthew, she admired him. He was something that made her realize that there could be something more. Or it could just be her and her positive thinking. Smiling at him she almost wanted to slap herself.
"Thank for coming over for dinner. It's no fun to cook for just for one person. You are welcomed to come anytime." Alison removed her hand from his hand almost wanting to put it back. She started playing with her hands in nervousness.

Matthew looked at her, smiling softly as she thanked him.
"Thank you for cooking." He said and looked at his hands, which were together in his lap. He wanted to hug her, again, but wasn't sure whether or not she'd think him strange or such. Ah, to hell with it. He looked rather awkward for a moment before hugging her. He pulled away and looked at his lap, a small blush creeping onto his face as he did so.

Alison definitely enjoyed the second hug from him. She could tell that Matthew was cracking from his shy-self, atleast infront of her. Watching him she smiled then lead on his shoulder, slightly resting her head. She wasn't tired but it was more just to let him know that she is content. Giving a soft sigh, she looked around her apartment living room.
"What makes you happy?" She shot out suddenly it the quiet, just curiosity that killed the cat.

Matthew smiled as he felt her lean on him and looked at her.
"Comfortable?" He asked jokingly, smile growing before be answered her question. What made him happy? Knowing that all was well with the world? Then he would never be happy... "I suppose... Knowing that the people I care about are okay, not injured, maybe not necessarily happy, but well." He said, shrugging with the shoulder that she wasn't leaning on. "What about you?"
